Ashlee A. Pouncy, President
Ms. Pouncy was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in English from Florida State University in 2008. During her undergraduate career she was able to record 261 hours of service to the community through extra-curricular activities.
In Fall, 2008, she matriculated to FSU College of Law. As a 1L, Ms. Pouncy was a mentor for two members of the FSU College Student Division of the Black Law Students Association, "BLSA CSD" . In the Spring of 2009, Ms. Pouncy won the "BLSA Member of the Year" Award, and was elected President of FSU’s Delores Poindexter Auzenne Chapter of the Black Law Students Association.
Lee-Ann LaBennett, Vice-President
Lee-Ann was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies with a minor in Business and Philosophy from St. John's University. She graduated with honors in 2007. During her undergraduate career Lee-Ann was an active member in the Legal Society, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Haraya-Pan African Society and was an Ambassador for the University. Lee-Ann was also an active member for the College of Professional Studies Honor Society where she volunteered countless hours of service to the community through extra-curricular activities.
In the Fall of 2008, she began her J.D. degree at FSU College of Law. As a 1L, Lee-Ann was elected BLSA's 1L Representative. In the Spring of 2009, she was elected Vice President of FSU’s Delores Poindexter Auzenne Chapter of the Black Law Students Association. Courtney Richardson-Jones, Treasurer
Courtney obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Education from the University of Florida in the Fall of 2007. During her undergraduate career she was involved in many organizations around campus. Courtney is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
In Fall, 2008, she matriculated to FSU College of Law. As a 1L, Courtney was a member of BLSA, SBA, LitiGATORS, and the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Society. In the Spring of 2009, Courtney was elected Treasurer of FSU’s Delores Poindexter Auzenne Chapter of the Black Law Students Association. In Summer 2009, Courtney participated in the College of Law's study abroad program the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.
Sharee Davis, Secretary
Born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Sharee obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in Spring 2006 and a Master of Science in Management in Spring 2007 from the University of Florida. While there, she was actively involved in various campus and community organizations such as the Caribbean Students Association, The Black Student Union, UNICEF and The Ronald McDonald House.
In Fall 2008, she matriculated to FSU College of Law. Since then, Sharee has been a member of BLSA, EASL, ILSA, The Student Government Elections Commission and the Mock Trial Team. In addition, she is also an active participant in the Leon County Teen Court program. In the Spring of 2009, Sharee was appointed Secretary of the Black Law Students Association.
Ashley Grant, Financial Secretary
Ms. Grant obtained her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Business from The Florida State University in 2008. During her undergraduate career she was very active in the FSU and Tallahassee community through her membership in many campus organizations, honor societies, and community service.
In Fall 2008, she matriculated to FSU College of Law. As a 1L, Ms. Grant became an active member of FSU BLSA and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. In the Spring of 2009, Ms. Grant was appointed Financial Secretary of FSU’s Delores Poindexter Auzenne Chapter of the Black Law Students Association.
Kristen Hanna , Community Service Co-Chair
Ms. Hanna obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a minor in Art History in the Spring of 2008 from the University of Florida . While there, she was actively involved in her campus and community as an Institute of Black Culture Emissary, National Pan-Hellenic Council Special Activities Chair, 2nd Vice President of the Lambda Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and as a volunteer for the Woodlawn Boys & Girls Club, Shands Hospital and Phelps Biology Lab.
Ms. Hanna was appointed BLSA Community Service Chair in the Spring of 2009.
Brandi Thompson, Member at Large
G.C. Murray, 1L Rep
G.C. was born in Key West, FL but raised in Miami, FL. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities through the Honors College in 2008 from Florida International University. During his undergraduate career G.C. was the Assistant Southern Area Director of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. G.C was also President of both the Black Student Association and the College Democrats and won several awards such as Florida Federation of Alpha Chapters' College Brother of the Year, Southern Region College Leadership Award, and FIUs Excellence in Civic Engagement Award for logging more than 200 service hours.
In Fall 2009, G.C. matriculated to FSU College of Law, where he was an active member of BLSA. In the Fall of 2009, G.C. was elected 1L Representative of FSU’s Delores Poindexter Auzenne Chapter of the Black Law Students Association.
Debrechea Hopkins, 2L Rep
Debrechea was born and raised in Cocoa, FL. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and a minor in English from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2005. During her undergraduate career she was active in several organizations and honor societies and volunteered as a weekly tutor for elementary and middle school students.
In Fall 2006, Debrechea matriculated to FSU College of Law, where she was an active member of BLSA. In the Spring of 2007, Debrechea enrolled in a graduate Criminal Justice program at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She graduated with her Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice in the Spring of 2009. She began her 2L year at FSU, Fall 2009, and was subsequently elected to serve as the 2L Representative. Her areas of interest include: Criminology; Public Policy; Child Advocacy; and Social Justice. Debrechea plans to enter into a Criminology doctoral program upon her law school graduation.
